  1. Jersey is located off the coast of Normandy, France and encompasses a little over 46 square miles.

  2.  It is a British Crown Dependency, officially known as the Bailiwick of Jersey, and has two groups of small islands, the Minquiers and Ecrehous, and the Pierres de Lecq. These islands are not permanently inhabited.

  3. The majority of the population of Bailiwick of Jersey is of Jersey / Norman descent; while forty percent belong to the English, Scottish, Welsh and Northern Irish groups. Portuguese is the largest minority group in the island followed by Irish. There is also a small community of ethnic French and Russian people.
