Brunch at Yardbird Southern Table & Bar

Located in the southern section of Miami Beach this restaurant has made its mark for Best Fried Chicken in South Florida. Yardbird has been named number one on the 14 Best Miami Restaurants from the Daily Meal and featured on The Cooking Channel’s Unique Eats, ABC’s The Chew and many more. To say the least I was extremely excited to have their famous Fried Chicken & Waffles entrée as my ultimate cheat meal of the week.

Once I walked up to the entrance I noticed people waiting outside. There’s no better sign of great food being served than people with rumbling stomachs patiently waiting to be seated. Fortunately I found some available seating at the bar until our table was ready. The moment we sat down we were promptly greeted by a friendly waiter and asked for drinks. He provided us the menu so that we had a better idea of their dishes. I had previously been looking through their mouth watering photos online, so I already knew what I was ordering. The wait at the bar was not as long as expected, which was good since i was anxious to try their house specialty. I Ordered their famous Fried Chicken & Waffles and Mac & Cheese on that oh so adorable little cast iron pot. Looking around the dining room,  I could see what other guests had ordered. It appeared some were eating shrimp & grits, fried green tomatoes, chicken & biscuits, and even pulled pork sandwiches. Everything looked amazing!

The drinks were garnished with beautiful edible decorations, unfortunately I did not have any of their famous cocktails but I will definitely go back very soon. Once the food got to the table I had no hesitation to dig in. The fried chicken was very crispy on the outside, yet tender and juicy on the inside, cooked to perfection. The dish came with a side of watermelon cubes which is very much a Southern tradition and a sauce made of honey and hot sauce. I loved it so much I poured it all over the chicken and waffles. The waffles were warm and fluffy and served with a scoop of fruit marmalade on top and maple syrup on the side.

The Mac n Cheese was creamy and had crunchy crumbs on top which made for very satisfying consistency, it arrived in a cast iron pot; the top has a rooster as a handle and sits next to the pot on your plate, I am a sucker for themed presentation! Loved it! Food was impeccable and service was great! No wonder they are packed once their doors open till their doors close. I am planning on a second trip very soon, and many more afther that. Cannot wait to try their famous Blackberry Bourbon Lemonade cocktail and Fried Green Tomatoes.

It is nice to find such a unique restaurant and experience in such a multi cultural city which is as vibrant and diversified as Miami Beach.

My rate is a 10
